Review on 🌍 Bendix King AV8OR Handheld System with GoFly Atlantic & GoDrive Southern Africa: Your Ultimate Travel Companion by Charles Russell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent device.: GPS, viewfinder and accessories

Received mine Feb 2011. He had an old database and Bendix King gave me a free update - no problem. I tried two other devices Quadra and iFly. The manual AV8OR was the best choice - less hassle and the most intuitive. Features I care about: brighter screen, NMEA serial output for autopilot control, vertical terrain view, faster satellite acquisition, easy addition of a standard WxWorx receiver. I never use a GPS mount. I installed it on the panel for better and more stable touch control. Or you can use the suction cup mount to attach to the windshield of the airplane. But I think the cheaper Nuvi suction cup is better in terms of geometry. With some RTV silicone glue you can easily attach the Nuvi mount to the AV8OR mount - just cut off the excess Nuvi mount. I think the car navigation function is out of place in all these portable aviation devices. Why pick up a $600 device that can be stolen when a $99 car GPS does a much better job and navigation is often built into new cars.
