Review on 🎧 Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones (MDRNC22/Black) by Lydia Rodriguez

Best Value In Ear Headphones

I've had these headphones for about 4 months now and still use them daily. Yes, there is a slight "hiss" when you first turn on the noise canceling, but this hiss is only noticeable when you're not listening to anything (e.g. music). The noise cancellation itself works like a miracle. I almost missed my flight at the airport because I didn't hear the boarding call. And then on the plane, I almost missed my chance for a drink because I didn't hear the flight attendant. They are equally good at drowning out small children and the roar of large airplane engines. And with the noise-cancellation switch turned off, they work well, passively blocking out or at least attenuating most noise, but only if you use the right size earbuds (I have to use a different size for each ear for best effect). Pretty good bass response, much better than standard iPod headphones. Speaking of which, I was able to set my iPod's volume limit to less than 15% of the maximum volume because these Sony headphones are much louder than the iPod headphones. Battery life is great. In 4 months of use I only had to change the battery once (they come with universal cheap Sony batteries, I'm sure higher quality batteries like Duracell or Energizer will last much longer). If the red indicator starts to dim, replace the battery, this will greatly change the sound quality. The only thing I don't like about these headphones is the cable design. For some reason Sony thought it would be cool to make one side longer than the other, which is why the right headphone cable is longer than the left, which is just annoying at times. And for some reason they thought it would be okay to put the battery pack halfway between the plug and the headphones, when in fact it would have been better to put the box much closer to the plug so it could easily fit in a pocket. Anyway, I mostly use them when I'm sitting, so those things aren't a big issue for me. They are definitely not suitable for sports use, as the headphones often jump out of the ears due to the constant pulling on the cable and the weight of the battery compartment.

Pros
  • Slim Battery Case
Cons
  • Out Of Style
