Soft and adjustable but be careful your pups don't get tangled or stuck. No quick release, because velcro. Any collar can cause a choking hazard when puppies are first born! And puppies grow quickly, so you need to monitor the fit of the collar. If it's too tight, they won't be able to breastfeed properly. Overall I would buy again but still use other methods of identification.
