The on/off/heat controller is a push button that is located ON the heating pad itself. That means it is ridiculously easy to accidentally shut the thing off or change the heat setting unintentionally. Also, it appears that the padded side is intended for contact with the person using it, which is fine, except even on "high" the heat doesn't really permeate that side. Also, most heating pads have auto-shut-off at four hours, but this is one hour; that's just plain irritating for someone with chronic back pain who needs heat pretty much constantly. For those reasons this pad was pretty much useless. Just buy a cheaper, regular heating pad.
