Review on πŸ”΄ REALINN Scratch Cover: 17 Fl Oz Burgundy Wood Stain with Touch Up Furniture Markers - Restore Surface Scratches on Wooden Door, Floor, Table & Cabinet by Tim Arnold

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Suitable for MALM furniture (black/brown finish)!

The darkest marker in this set goes very well with my IKEA MALM dressers (black/brown). I've tried coloring markers in the past and they usually end up being red/orange (even dark). This "black" marker actually looks like real espresso brown on furniture. I tried the darkest brown in this set and it was too light and had red tones in it. I've managed to conceal many serious imperfections with this black touch-up pen. I have a pretty bad nick in one of the drawers and while this hasn't restored it to brand new condition, it did a good job of camouflage it. I would like to point out that these markers act like permanent markers, not dot markers. The color does not rub into the finish. These dry up immediately. I immediately tried polishing it, but without much success. However, these marks dry up and become pretty seamless... definitely better than scratch marks. I have a few other pieces of furniture to try on some of the lighter shades, but I found the dark espresso furniture was the most impressive because it's difficult to find a good match for this color. I'm glad I was able to breathe new life into my old worn out IKEA furniture with this repair kit. I think restoring old furniture is good for the planet and good for our bank accounts.

Pros
  • Easy to use - sand and clean wood first; Mix the wood scratch coating well. Then apply a thin layer along the fibers, let it dry completely for at least 3 hours before applying the next layers. After application, allow 24 hours to dry completely. After 7 days of drying, the adhesion of the coating improves.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
