They appear to be quite rough from what I can tell from the scratch pattern and are very good for reprofiling curved blades. I just wish they had some grains, but I don't care, I'll use them in some way. The only other use I could see is when you're camping and need a light setting stone, otherwise I'd look elsewhere for regular knives.
