Review on LeapFrog LF930HD: Advanced 1080p WiFi Baby Monitor with Remote Access, Pan&Tilt, Zoom, HD Display, Color Night Light, Two-Way Intercom, Smart Sensors+ by Sarah Hunter

It was great...then not so good

I follow the reviews...just read a bunch and never posted but thought I should as I know a great combo of baby wifi and a Monitor find difficult to come by. Here are my following opinions: 1. The size of the monitor stand is made for a smartphone. Any non-flat/hard surface and this thing will tip over... we can't even put the monitor on a sofa cushion without it tipping over. It's annoying but we're deal.2. Video quality/connection. As someone mentioned in a previous review it was great at first and then it went wrong, we see it now. I think 1080p is overkill and too taxing on the hardware in these things to stream all the time. We've never had 1080p quality unless the monitor and camera are 5 feet apart or you have very fast WiFi. We used it in the side room and the camera signal was 1 bar and we go in and out of the connection. I think it depends too much on the wifi aspect and even then it's not very good. Very disappointed as initially I really liked this monitor and decided it was one of the most expensive on the market (if not top of the range) for a baby monitor/wifi combo, that would be decent but unfortunately not. The motion and sound detection is actually pretty accurate, but when you go live on your phone, the image quality is so poor I can't even tell what's going on. It also sometimes won't even connect when it's in the app. I think it could be a great monitor and WiFi combo, but it offers too much picture quality and a bit of WiFi that it lacks in other areas.

Pros
  • Smart monitors
Cons
  • Big and chunky
