Review on 🔌 DROK Boost Converter Module - Set of 3 USB DC-DC Step Up Voltage Regulator Boards, 3V to 5V 1A for Enhanced MP3, MP4, and Phone Charging by Nolan White

TL;DR: Not suitable for more than 500mA continuous current (overheating), not suitable for standby current. Tested with a 5.0v dummy load tester and ammeter - plan to use this to power a recycled 18650s can (with separate charge/protection circuitry). Photos with continuous load (LED fully on) and no load (LED slightly on).1. Has significant standby power consumption when plugged in with no load - there is no obvious way to disable the circuit. For battery backup applications, provide a switch or other means of shutting down when not in use.2. The device overheats outdoors and switches off after approx. 20-30 minutes with a continuous load of 800 mA. Occurs much faster at higher loads. However, the device can and will deliver up to 1.5A in short bursts.3. There is no obvious or easy way to install a heatsink for Fix #2.4. It gets even fussier now that I understand how low power this is good for, but the VIN and VOUT holes are tiny - the component pins fit, but the 18ga cable is way too big. On the plus side, the pads are a reasonable size and you can mount the wire to a surface without too much trouble.
