I usually wear a size 10 but according to reviews I ordered a size up. Well they were a little big which was ok because I needed to add insoles for cushioning and arch support. I don't understand why they make riding boots so uncomfortable. A riding day includes a lot of walking and standing time. I am 49 years old and need support and a better pillow. So with insoles it would be fine, only that I wear them without - and with a slightly loose boot - only at the desk (sitting), the spur has dug into the back of my heel in the boot. It kind of pushes in - so it flattens that part of the rounded heel - and creates a very painful ridge. Strange. I ordered another pair from a different brand and had the same problem. And everyone has spurs, unless I want to pay almost $200. In this price range all paddock boots have spurs. Speaking of price, why such a price difference in paddock boots? They either cost $30-50 or go up to $125-50! I'd love to find a better quality pair, say $75 or $80, but they don't exist. I ended up buying a pair of Chelsea style wellies with walkers. They cost $30, look just like paddock boots but without the spurs, and are 100% waterproof and mudproof. Now I just need to see if they are too hot/sweaty for summer riding boots.
