Review on 🐦 Wesco Pet Kabob Shreddable Bird Toy: A Must-Have for Enriching Avian Playtime by Ricky Long

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good product. Also advice for shy birds.

It took my GCC about 4 days to get over its fear of this toy and now it's hooked. This is a crushable toy obviously made to be destroyed so the quality and durability is not up to par. So far (6 days) it's holding up, but I really can't say how long this toy will last. My GCC loves to chew; most likely it will disappear within a month. I'm not sure if it's worth buying something once a month that will only destroy my bird, but I can buy a few more of these. Otherwise, I'll definitely try to make my own instead. If they last longer than a month and seem worth their price, great! That's just the perspective of a man whose bird destroyed two perches in a few months haha. I bought a mini and it fits my two birds perfectly. My parrot doesn't like to chew but as I said I bought one for my GCC. Each bird's personality and confidence level is different. Many reviews of this article talk about how much their bird loves the toy, but few mention their bird's fear of it. If your bird is afraid of this toy, give it a week or two. I wouldn't call my GCC particularly cowardly, but of course it's afraid of new things being introduced into its safe environment. This toy does not have a hook for hanging. You'll either need to tie the rope to one of the cage's bars (or wherever you put the toy), or if you're like me and don't have spare toy hooks, just use a tie clip. The way I convinced my bird to try this toy was by cutting off a small sprig of millet, maybe two or three inches. One of these inches must be fully stalked. Thread the stick through the bottom hole of the bottom kebab, making sure it stays on. Also, make sure your bird can see where you put it! With any luck, and hopefully your bird loves the millet, he'll be brave enough to approach this toy and make sure he doesn't attack it. Be sure to praise your feathered puffball when he starts munching on kebabs! The durability and overall price brings my rating down to 4 stars but I would recommend this if your bird is like mine and likes to chew and shred things. I just think it would be cheaper to make your own!
