Not worth the risk!

Wood/material is dark between pieces, not noticed when buying. Gave it to my little budgie then noticed abnormal droppings. I can't say for sure this kabob was the cause but I took him to the vet when I brought my bird and he said he looked suspicious and possibly moldy. The vet recommended that I throw the doner kebab away and prescribed antibiotics for the child. I saw another review pointing to the same blackout of the material. I only wish I had read it before giving it to my good bird! Not

Lasts longer when added to other toys

If you untie the string and remove the crushable donuts from the kebab you can add them to other toys. See the photo gallery for an example. I added kebab donuts to Mac's Spinner Sticks Natural Bird. And yes, I needed a little help from a drill to make the donut holes bigger. Why do? Because of this, my budgie (parrot) divides his time between chopping donuts and chewing on the wooden parts of another toy. The kebab parts last longer now (compared to just leaving them on the kebab) and my…

Budge loves it!: Toy

Our budgie loves to chew. Funny, because our male only chews occasionally. On the other hand, she's manic. Always chews and shreds its perches, nests and toys. This large log keeps her busy and other items in her cage. We buy the third one and she loves it. It takes her many months, but eventually she refuses everything. After she finished one we took her out and gave her a break for a few months and then switched to other chew toys. When we put in another one of those logs, after a few seconds

I think I have a problem

I recently bought one for my 5 budgies for the first time. Since, of course, like every budgie/parrot, they have a special and specific taste that is only known to them, I was skeptical how well this would work. However, it was less than a day before they noticed, and then it started. Planned and systematic destruction of the invader Kabob. It all started with one, and then the others joined him. It quickly became apparent that despite the acrimonious love triangle that plagued the community…

Green Cheek Conure was approved but went quickly after starting

I bought a mini size for my Green Cheek Conure because he is not very fond of chewing. He has a variety of toys, but for his wooden toys, he doesn't typically chew on anything thicker than 1/4 inch. They lay in his cage for 5 weeks and he completely ignored them. In fact, I even told him that if he hadn't started playing with him by the weekend, I would have given him to a Senegal parrot. Well, he must have heard me because last night I heard an unfamiliar chewing noise coming from his cage. I…

A good product. Also advice for shy birds.

It took my GCC about 4 days to get over its fear of this toy and now it's hooked. This is a crushable toy obviously made to be destroyed so the quality and durability is not up to par. So far (6 days) it's holding up, but I really can't say how long this toy will last. My GCC loves to chew; most likely it will disappear within a month. I'm not sure if it's worth buying something once a month that will only destroy my bird, but I can buy a few more of these. Otherwise, I'll definitely try to…
