I have tried different clickers with a kitten. However, when I used the wand and clicker combo, day and night were different. From the moment I pulled out my wand, it was fixed on the green ledge at the end. Focusing on the cat is half the battle in training, and it has made a world of difference. I've given away every other clicker I've bought and have only used this one ever since. It's been almost a year. I try to train my cat several times a week. Regardless of the pause between sessions, as soon as I pull out the wand, his eyes are fixed on me. He knows it's working time. (Well, just like a cat works.) In the beginning, I "charged" the clicker by rewarding it and then immediately clicking on it. You will read this in almost every textbook. The animal quickly learns that the click means a treat. When he learns that a certain behavior gets clicks, that's when the magic happens. So in a way it can be called a magic wand :-)
