advantages - very beautiful. I bought purple. Easy to clean. Very durable. My pedal hit the stump so hard my bike was thrown sideways without damaging the pedal. My feet used to bounce off the pedals, but not with these. My vans match these pins perfectly. No special footwear is required. The only negative thing I noticed was the delivery time. It took several weeks to receive them. I've been freeriding them in the PNW Forrest National Areas for several months. Some rough stuff. So far there are no problems. I am considering ordering a replacement part. Just in case.
