Review on Memorex 4 7GB DVD 50 Pack Spindle by Josel Lambert

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great media at a great price!

Half the spindle is missing, but no stand! I have a Panasonic progressive DVD player purchased in 2000 and it plays them flawlessly. Although rated at 4x, these babies record easily at 8x on my Teac 8x DVD+R/RW drive. I have backed up my kids DVDs and they all play like the original. I have also converted most of our home videos to DVD using these discs and so far 3 of the 4 DVD players in the house play them. The only exception is our very first DVD player, bought in 1998 or 1999 (if I'm not mistaken, and yes, it cost us over $600!). I don't blame the media for this as this DVD player (another Panasonic) was one of the very first DVD players to hit the consumer market. However, it is important to remember that some media are more compatible. on some devices/burners compared to others. This also applies to CDRW recorders, it's different here. You should also keep in mind that if you have a 2x rated DVD burner, you may need to update the firmware to ensure you can reliably write to 4x media. Also, don't forget that some older standalone DVD players may have compatibility issues with these discs and not play them at all. In the end, my advice would be to buy 2 packs of DVD media and try them first. . Yes they are expensive but in the end they serve your wallet better. If they work, you can proceed to buying spindles. And if not, at least you won't be banging your head against the wall for buying 50 pieces of useless junk. uh, I mean coasters!
