A good one to begin with. It's hard work and she does what she has to do. This is MUCH better than dropping the air conditioner out the window. If you have a window air conditioner, you'll probably need this little shelf. It's about 5 inches wide or so, which means you should install it in the middle. It comes with durable plastic risers that allow you to control the height. They work fine. I have two problems. I don't think it should put people off - it's a good product. But you might want to know this before installing. They tried to give decent instructions but I don't think they tried very well. I ended up fumbling with one of my windows and when I took out the air conditioner for the winter and tried to close the window, I found that I had installed it too close to the closed window and was in the way. The instructions try to warn you about this, but do so in a confusing way. So, a word to the forewarned: install it far enough up the windowsill that you can close the window when you turn off the air conditioner for the season. The second thing I don't like is the support corner piece, which bends at a 45 degree angle to provide support at the end - it doesn't really attach to the house. It has a rubber end and you can screw it in at the attachment point so it stays in place, but it stays where it is due to friction, not because it's attached. Ok I understand. They didn't want to make holes on the outside of the house. It's probably for the best. But I'm very worried (so far this has not happened) that it will not be left for 45 and the shelf will sag. I believe the unit would be better maintained if there was a way to ensure the 45 pieces absolutely stay at a 45 degree angle and cannot fall off causing the shelf to open and your air conditioner to fall to the floor. As I said. It didn't happen, and maybe I'm worrying for nothing. Please be careful when installing.
