In my opinion this is the best non-electronic, non-motorized pet door you can buy! It's not at all like the rest of them out there. First, the frame is made of thick aluminum with a beautiful white finish. The frame is quite heavy, very strong and well made. The two doors (I have a double door) are made of a pliable material that won't pinch your pet if they decide to back away once they start walking out the door (as can happen with hard swing doors) . Each flap consists of two layers with air pockets in between for excellent weather protection. In addition, it has two such wings, so you get excellent insulation against the weather! The wings are completely airtight as there are magnets on the sides of the door opening. And at the bottom of the door there are magnets that attract the lower threshold. The sill actually bounces to stick to the bottom of the door as it closes to completely seal it from bugs and the elements. The only thing is that you don't have to follow the installation instructions exactly. If you use the paper template provided to trace the hole, it will be much larger than it needs to be. I mounted the included aluminum "tunnel" onto the inner frame and then brought it up to the door and traced the outside edge of the tunnel. I also put a pencil in each of the screw holes and marked them on my door. I cut out the main hole with a jigsaw and pre-drill four large holes in each corner. This leaves the areas for the screws outside the cutting area, requiring you to drill holes for them that are slightly wider than the screws. This works much better than cutting a big hole with bolt holes and then trying to align the long bolts to match the nuts on the outer frame. It also makes the doors more stable. If you do this correctly, the inner frame with the tunnel will fit snugly in the opening you are cutting. (My door is tight.) After installing the door, be sure to temporarily remove the sills from the bottom of the door and apply a bead of the provided silicone sealant along the inside of the tunnel (between the outer and inner frames). ) around the perimeter (both sides and bottom) to fully protect the gate from the elements. Then reset the thresholds. My two dogs (a Beagle and a Chiviny) are already used to going through pet doors as our garage has had a cheaper single door for many years. I removed the magnet from the bottom of the doors and the plastic sills from the bottom of the door (they also contain magnets) until our dogs got used to this new door. About two weeks later, as soon as they thoughtlessly flew in the door, I put everything back together and they use it with no problems. Swell. But it's not scary and I love hearing that sound because I know my dogs have either walked out or come in through the door. All in all, this is an expensive door, but if you're looking for something that will give you years of trouble-free sealing while still looking good, you won't be disappointed in this door. Just take your time and install it properly. So far very satisfied.
