Perfect travel toothbrush

I have used Philips Sonicare electric toothbrushes for many years, including the Elite, Flexcare Platinum and Diamond Clean models. All are good for brushing your teeth. I've been using the Flexcare Platinum for years and I'm very happy with it. The model I used has UV sanitizer built into the large charging base, but I needed a brush that I could easily take with me on trips without unnecessary extras. I believe this is the niche that this particular Flexcare Platinum model aims to fill. Like all Philips Sonicare brushes, this one comes neatly packaged in a box that's relatively easy to unpack. It is cosmetically identical to my old Flexcare model, except for the grip color change. This model comes with a brush handle, a full-size brush head with a protective plastic cap, a small charging station, a stylish plastic travel case, and a printed instruction manual. The instructions state that you should charge the pen for at least 24 hours before first use, so don't expect to use a new brush right away. However, Philips claims that once charged, the brush can be used for up to 3 weeks on a single charge. Due to review deadlines, I have no opportunity to verify this claim prior to this review. I can say that my other Flexcare Platinum toothbrushes have had their handles charged for up to 2 weeks when traveling in the past, so I assume this model will work just as well. The included travel case is big enough to hold a pen and up to two brush heads, but doesn't have room for a charger, so a week's charge is essential for travel use. At the same time, the charging station is quite small and does not take up much space when you take it with you when you travel. Its size can be further reduced by removing the detachable stand that can hold up to two cleaning heads. Once charged, Flexcare Platinum has many settings to adjust the intensity and duration of brushing. The brush is designed to start at a low intensity for the first 14 uses to give those unaccustomed to using a rechargeable toothbrush a chance to get used to it. However, this setting can easily be overridden for those who want more intensity right away. The intensity of the brush is easy, even too easy, to adjust with a rocker switch on the handle housing. One thing I never liked about this pen is that it's too easy to accidentally change the intensity of the brush by holding the pen while brushing. I want Phillips to solve this problem. Other than that, which is a relatively minor gripe, the brush is great. The handle is thin and light, making it easy to hold while cleaning. The included brush head is full size, which is different from other models that have a smaller brush head. I personally prefer the smaller brush head as it's easier to comb small areas, but you have to buy it separately. After brushing your teeth, your teeth will appear as clean as after a visit to the dentist. Some people may be confused by the reference to this product as "not affiliated". Philips sells another model, the Flexcare Platinum, which uses Bluetooth technology to track how you brush your teeth and provide instant feedback on your smartphone. I have one of these and can tell you that apart from the lack of Bluetooth capability, the features and performance on this model are exactly the same. The Bluetooth feature is of limited use because once you get the hang of brushing your teeth properly, which doesn't take long, it's really not worth messing around with. So unless you really want to keep a close eye on how well you're brushing your teeth, there's really no reason to pay extra money for Bluetooth functionality. For my purposes, this particular Flexcare Platinum model is exactly what I need. It contains everything you really need and nothing more. If you are looking for a good rechargeable travel toothbrush, this is the perfect choice.
