This is an exceptional AM radio station that competes with the best CCrane radios in the AM band. The reception is incredible. To understand what this radio is capable of, take it outside, away from the electronics in the house. Unfortunately, this is a problem for any AM radio due to the multitude of chargers, lights, satellite boxes and WIFI in the modern home. The weather section works much better than usual. The weather band has three alarm options and the radio has an alarm clock. This receiver does not have a soft mute function for weak AM signals at night. A real blessing, unlike most overpriced digital radios that are touted for their excellent AM reception. The FM band works great in strong signal areas, but a strong signal is required to activate the stereo signal in the headphones. . The audio when using headphones sounds great on both AM and FM. The radio features multiple AM bandwidth options to clean up very weak signals (especially when using headphones for DXing), automatic AM tracking for optimal reception, and a great-sounding 3-inch speaker. which has a large volume. The bandwidth settings also work like the tone controls on AM. It uses 4 D-cell batteries and comes with an AC adapter. If you enjoy listening to AM and want a top quality receiver but don't have a lot of money to spend, you won't find it better. This radio is particularly useful for hooking up to far-flung daytime stations when taking it away from other electronics, and is nice to use at night. NOTE: SANGEAN has improved the speaker of this radio. There is no muffled audio on AM when using a higher bandwidth setting. The default bandwidth setting for AM is 2.5.
