They use it for other purposes! I needed an adjustable pole to support my BOAT CANVAS on my boat's cockpit lid. Now it's not a small boat! (32 feet. Not HUGE either.) The canvas is thick and the boat is 10.5 feet wide. So it supports a lot of stuff. And still. I am impressed! It works PERFECTLY for what I use it for! I will keep modifying to make it better. but the rod itself works great for what I use it for. Placing the weight on a vertical plane. NOW. If you use it as a "hanger" and put weight on it on a horizontal plane, there might be a problem as it might not carry much weight. But for the use I use it for, I'm happy with it.
