I bought this product a few months ago. I needed one of the bedrooms to be warmer than the rest of the house as I have pets that need extra warmth. Today when I was cleaning my room I wanted to switch the heating so I unplugged it. The cable got hot, the socket burned in places and melted. See the photo posted with this review. It could have started a fire and burned the house to the ground if I hadn't caught it. The cord on this heater is very thin, as thin as the cord for a very low power device such as an electric heater. B. a table lamp. This is very wrong. The heater is a powerful thing, so it needs to have a heavy-duty cord. I called Lasko and they immediately tried to hide behind a complicated explanation that my outlet might not be able to withstand the high wattage product, hence the problem. from my socket. This is the biggest nonsense I've ever heard. All household sockets are rated for this type of output and this heater has been designed to accommodate this without the need for extra wiring to install a dedicated socket like the stove/oven. I was offered to return the item and was told that the legal department would write to me with the results. legal department? Sounds terribly defensive and suspicious. The guy also assured me that the heater was designed and manufactured to US standards. I have no doubt that they had to follow some rules when designing the product, but it seems to me based on the fragility of the cord that they did it with the bottom of those rules. A quality product that uses so much energy must have a cable that can take the strain. Finally, I'm not put off by the claim that my outlet can't handle that much power for long periods of time. 1500 watts is the maximum and is expected to be the initial peak when the heater is turned on. The heater does not work at this high output for a long period of time. Another delusional statement designed to shut up shoppers who don't know the basics of consumption and performance of electrical appliances. I will not buy any of the Lasko products again.
