Review on Efficiently Scan and Digitize Documents with HP Scanjet L2706ABGJ 7000 Sheet-Feed Scanner by Mark Gilbert

Revainrating 3 out of 5

did you use one

Upon opening the box I found that the plastic protection on the cover once removed and then reattached (not a very clean job) I happened to buy a used unit. Or a returned block that failed validation. First, I tested individual sheets without any problems. When I tested 50 sheets. feeding failed. (The reason the first customer returned it?) After a few tries and readjusting the block, it started feeding crooked. After a few hundred pages everything was working fine. Second problem: If you don't download and set up Acrobat's VRS PDF post-processing software, the scanned files will be too large (MB/page at 200 dpi). The VRS software will rescan the result to a decent size. After scanning hundreds of pages, I haven't noticed any problems with the device. So it may need a break before it starts to work. I'll report if it goes wrong again. It scans very quickly at resolutions up to 300 dpi. I like single-pass double-sided printing. The VRS post-processing is also good. (But the PDF file cannot be read by Acrobat 5 or below). You need current readers. I would have given it a higher rating but the initial experience wasn't very good. This is a good scanner.

Pros
  • Scans up to 40 pages per minute and 80 ipm in black and white and grayscale, 35 pages per minute and 70 ipm in color
Cons
  • unreliable
