Doesn't really stop baby from rolling out of bed.
I think it's better than nothing and serves as a tactile/visual reminder of the edge of the bed. This can be useful when traveling with older children. However, if your child is small and/or sleeps restlessly, it can still roll easily. It offers neither security nor protection. Nothing holds it in place and every morning we find it hanging from the edge of the bed (still under the sheet). Much better with side rails. which we also have. They're lightweight, inexpensive, and work great.
