The vet recommended this to my dog who was recovering from an ear injury, said to be more comfortable for the dog than a hard 'pucker'. I ordered XL and it still felt pretty tight for my dog who is around 50lbs; He has a lot of hair, so maybe the size is right for a straight haired breed. The quality of the shawl seems pretty good, the price seems overpriced for a thick, stretchy knit shawl. Unfortunately, my dog was totally pissed with this cape. He froze in place for about 5 minutes and then got angry, shook his head and jumped to take it off. If you have a dog of the right size and head shape (with an accommodating disposition) then I think this could work as an alternative to a cone.
