Review on πŸšͺ Satin Nickel National Hardware N326-272 V1951 Pocket Door Latch: Stylish & Functional by Todd Atherton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not like my original.

. and I'm not some retiree complaining about "modernity" (although I'm retired, old man!). I removed the old broken device. I compared them and this one was just as similar to the old one as it is in the photos. I installed it. It fit right into the original space. Screwed it in and found two things I'm really not happy with: The back edges are sticking out of the door. No screw/plate fumbling has changed that. I put the old one back in, it fits the door perfectly. Oh, well, it sticks out a little (I thought), so what? I tell you so and so! Scratch jam when opening the door! Grrr. And so it will go on until I can (maybe) bend the back edges slightly. This brings me to the second and most problematic point. For some design reason (I think) on a desktop, the vertical edges of the finger holes are no longer square. I'm good looking but when I try to pull/push the door through the finger holes my fingers slip out! Absolutely stupid "improvement"! PROS: Looks very good, overall same shape as my 25 year old, easy to replace. CONS: Doesn't fit my door snugly, finger holes are flattened making it difficult to pull/push the door to open and/or close the large pit!

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
