Review on πŸ’¨ Smart Jet Single Piston Air Compressor by Iwata-Medea Studio Series by Jennifer Roberts

Revainrating 2 out of 5

For the price what you get is insulting.

Pros: The engine runs smooth and is relatively quiet, this is largely offset by the fact that you will constantly hear a hiss from the bleeder valve if you are using it for anything less than 50 pounds per square inch. Cons: The only difference between the Smart and the Sprint is that the Smart Jet has an auto shut off feature. This doesn't make sense since you're not getting a regulator, you're getting a bleed valve. Using an exhaust valve means that if you lower the PSI from 50, the pump will still run all the time. My first thought was to just add an aperture control. Well, the Iwata brand is $90, and if you choose any other brand, you're playing with plumbers. The second thought was, well, maybe I can add a tank. Again, this costs between $100 and $200 if you've already paid $270 at the time of publication. After exhausting those options, I decided to return it and buy the Badger Aspire. This came with a tank AND a regulator for about $100 less. It also works quietly. I'm not entirely sure what the point of this series of smart planes is, especially for the cost.

Pros
  • Adjusting bleeder valve airflow to reduce air pressure
Cons
  • Damaged
