When we got a second cat I had to step up my trash game. I used a small Litter Genie which filled up quickly. I bought this device based on the good reviews and the fact that it can save $ in the long run on the proprietary Litter Genie bags which also have a large environmental footprint as they require shipping and come in more plastic. . I love that it has a handle so I can carry it between boxes and it doesn't seem to fold in half (like Litter Genie) when I pick it up. However, I don't know why the $50 bucket gets such high reviews. Yes it is sealed when the handle is up. What these reviews don't tell you is that if you open it to throw rubbish in, the tremendous stench from all the rubbish stored escapes. This is where Litter Genie greatly improved the whole process; If you poke around in it, it doesn't emit any smell other than the current matter being ejected (not last week's value). I've only had it a week, and I've already washed a bucket (soap, water, air dry) once because. it started to stink. Of course the kitten has digestive problems; so maybe that's part of the problem.
