Gloves must be worn when handling ink! Your fingers will wear out in a day or so from fooling around. It's a good idea to spread out the newspaper and work in a place where you don't mind spilling ink. So not your vintage dining table with a white rug underneath! In the basement on a concrete floor or on a workbench that doesn't mind a few fun spots of paint! Many reviews seem to have issues with print quality or excessive ink consumption. Both can be the same problem; The print head needs to be cleaned. The method I've found works best is to turn the cartridge upside down. Then take a few drops of 70% ethyl alcohol and put it directly on your head. Wait a minute and blot CAREFULLY. GENTLE rubbing in the direction of the band may help. Reinstall IMMEDIATELY. (The printer has a small rubber gasket to prevent the print head from drying out.) Note that excessive ink consumption may be due to the gasket inside the printer becoming saturated! Sometimes you can dry the sponge inside with a paper towel and wiping the seal will soak up the excess ink. (GLOVES!) Overfilling the cartridge will oversaturate the sponge inside the printer. To avoid this, place the refilled cartridge head on a bunch of paper towels and something that won't be damaged by water if it gets wet. The cartridge does NOT sit flat, which is a good thing. If you only refill a set of cartridges ONCE, you can already save between $35 and $45! We calculated that a refilled cartridge costs us less than a DOLLAR! Of course $25 to $40 is better!
