It's worth it. best in category computers and tablets

I really like this thing. I've never liked shareware games on mobile platforms, but I love being able to play anywhere. GPD is a very good alternative. The controls are very good, except for the small triggers (internal buttons, R2 and L2 I think), they are a bit tiny, some games that use them a lot can hurt a little after a short time. I think most of the complaints were about the first version of the GPD, and it looks like they fixed the spongy d-pad in this version. In general I like it. I deducted one star for the operating system. It's basically an Android phone with a keyboard attached, which is a nice touch. But the preinstalled malware is buggy, in English in some places and Korean(?) in other places (some text fields I can't read) and EXTREMELY hard to bypass. I've never figured out how to put my own ROMs into the OS to make them play as the documentation doesn't exist. I tried some of the emulators but they are also clearly free and require you to pay or tweet or some other really annoying strategy (exactly what I wanted to avoid). Also, apps often crash and you can't uninstall some apps (I just want this for gaming, I don't need Facebook with a gamepad). It's easy to fix and it's beautiful: CleanROM is a replacement. Operating system developed for this particular device (as well as others). There are very detailed instructions on how to get it on your device and they are specific to the GPD XD+. Everything from rooting your device to downloading software is in one place. It's a bit long but very easy even for a beginner and when it's done everything will work fine. I don't miss the old OS at all and everything runs much, much faster. I recommend installing RetroARCH from the Play Store. This is a very handy emulator for many, many, many game consoles (including arcade and portable ones). The documentation for this is also very simple. I got it working up to n46 (no gamecube emulator yet?) and the GPD handles it with no hiccups. A few things can make it even better: to fix it) More internal storage (I always put an external micro SD in to fix that) More colors (wish it was the old red but oh well) USB -C charger (I would really like to switch to micro USB, too many cables in my bag)
