Review on Commercial Chef CCD100W6 Food Dehydrator & Freeze Dryer - Efficient Jerky Maker, 280 Watts, White by Robert Mulrooney

I have a quick fix if you hear fan screeching! Still the best $30 spent!

Listen! I've had mine for about 3 months now and since it's so cheap you don't usually get what you pay for. Please take my experience so you can understand what happened. I thought something was going to happen and tonight it finally happened. The fan inside lightly touched the white case inside, causing the fan to slow down. If you hear yours chugging, you have the same problem as me. Here's the kicker, they made them with 4 Phillips screws on the bottom and a triangular head. Luckily, last week I bought a $20 or $30 computer screwdriver set that came with a triangular point bit. I think they thought this would happen which would cause the fan to run and eventually break the motor inside. Why else would they swap a screw for a triangular head? And this screw has such a thin access hole that I had to use a drill to get there. This is a very simple solution. Remove 5 screws from the bottom and remove the base from the machine. Turn it over and you will find 3 identical Phillips head screws. This is for the shield on top of the machine, it sits above the fan. If you loosen these three screws and remove the fan cover, you will find scratches on the fan as it rubs against the screen. I just took 80 grit sandpaper and turned on the machine to let the fan do all the work. Touch it lightly with sandpaper to create a groove and you're done. Reattach the screen with 3 screws and inspect. You shouldn't hear any more grinding! I think this little solution will last a very long time. It took me 20 minutes to do this without any instructions and here you are with a detailed account of how to do it. My jerky doesn't know the difference hahahaha! Amazing taste! I got a notification from Revain so I decided to update. June 2, 2020 and still in effect. I make about 3 pounds of jerky each month and use this dehydrator for a variety of purposes. I forgot to mention that this dryer is great for drying car air filters. I mainly use it for anything that fits in or without plastic trays. I am very careful with the trays and none have broken yet. Be extra gentle with them and I think they will last a long time. I think I'll keep trying to update regularly.
