I gave this product 5 stars because it is good for checking the pool temperature. Some instructions may be required here on the Revain product page, so I'll post them in this review. I have poor eyesight so it wasn't easy for me. If I could listen to instructions though, that would help. Step one: open the battery compartment which you can find by touch. What I didn't realize was that the AAA batteries had a plastic protector between the battery and the device, so remove the batteries and remove the plastic spacer. Step Two Hold the thermometer in your right hand with the probe away from your hand. Step Three: With your right hand holding the device and the probe not touching your hand, your thumb should be touching the buttons. This means you are holding it correctly. Step 3 Open the sensor by pulling the end closer to your palm than your fingers. This part made me nervous before giving it to my wife. Knowing which side to reach for was reassuring. Step 4: Press the button closest to the probe when it is in the open position. It reads the temperature of the air or other liquid the probe is in and reads it out loud. The volume is perfect for me. There are three other buttons: one toggles Celsius and F, the other toggles it on and off, but it has an auto-off feature when closed. I don't remember the function of the bottom button. This product could easily be used by a blind person if the instructions were on the website. Blind people often use sound for feedback, and we can just listen to very specific instructions like the ones I just wrote. I'm still pretty handy, but my eyesight is limited. My talking tire pressure gauge and now my talking pool thermometer are very useful. I save money and a pool thermometer helps me figure out what methods my heater is using for maximum efficiency. Variables include closing our well, using liquid blankets, and using plastic pool blankets. Sorry for the long review. Probably also suitable for cooking.
