I've had one of these cob cutters for a few years and they work great. I just met up with some friends to make 21 dozen ears of corn. To gather friends, I bought a second one to process 21 dozen ears, but I didn't use the new one. Four days later I processed 10 dozen ears. I used my original corn cutter for about 4 dozen and decided to try my new one. The new one broke on the 6th ear that I wanted to work on. There was a small dent in the butt and the edge caught there and bent the cutting blade so badly I couldn't use it so it went in the trash. I still have a high rating for this device. if it works. I mount the ears on a mandrel built into a 2x6 piece of wood. To use the cutter I glue the end of the ear to the tip. it works very well, just press straight down
