So I spent some time buying the speakers for my Technics 1200 MK2 turntable which I recently bought. Previously I used an older and fairly inexpensive Logitech THX computer speaker set that included a subwoofer. They were ok but far from great so I felt like I needed to up my game. I kept switching between AudioEngine A5+, Klipsch R15-PM, but both speakers definitely cost a bit more money than I wanted to spend. The Kanto kept popping up on forums and review sites as a legitimate competitor for both brands, but I also wanted these speakers to be loud enough. So I wasn't sure when I saw this YU6 for sale. I decided to buy them based on the price and specs. My first impression so far is very, very good. They apparently blew up the Logitech kit I had. in a massive way. I'm also really, really, really impressed that when someone decides to use the remote to change the bass or treble, it has a pretty big impact on the overall sonic signature of the speakers themselves. I will definitely fine-tune the amount of bass and treble depending on listening habits, and I have very different tastes. Just tonight I was listening to Metallica (metal), Bad Brains (punk/hardcore), The Avett Brothers (rock/country), Nas (hip-hop), Gang Starr (hip-hop) and finished my audition as New York hardcore Player. a band called BURN, very heavy. A small adjustment of bass and treble for each genre really makes a big difference. And I have to say I was expecting these speakers to have some performance based appeal but they sound really loud with absolutely no distortion whatsoever. And it's all right out of the box. No 80 hour damage to the speakers themselves. I just have to imagine things will get better once everything is sorted out. As for the bass itself, I was very impressed with how much resonance the bass had with just the speakers alone. . Despite being a huge bass fanatic and having an additional subwoofer which I hooked up shortly after installation, I really just wanted to hear the bass coming out of the speakers themselves and while the room wasn't shaky it definitely had a decent presence. I haven't heard any of the other speakers mentioned above so I can't directly compare these speakers to them but I'm pretty sure I got my money's worth with this purchase. Considering I also spent almost $100 less than these other speakers (depending on the color you get, you can save quite a bit of money), I'm happy with the camping. I plan to test out bluetooth over the weekend, although it's not a feature I intend to use that often, I'll check it out and decide to use it for that extra functionality. Maybe I'll add my review once they do. I'm only including the picture to give an idea of her footprint. The Technic 1200 is a bit larger than your average turntable, but it should give you a good idea of the human size of these speakers.
