Review on Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO Shell Headphone Bundle - Top-Quality Headphones for Premium Sound Experience by Eunu ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality is at the highest level, be sure to try it.

Bought in January 2022. These are not at all ideal, but very balanced headphones, capable of a lot for relatively little money, if you approach them with brains, and not audiophilia in your head. If you want a smooth, "studio" but "flexible" sound, and at the same time the lightness and noise isolation of outdoor headphones with almost home comfort, then these are better suited than others in this price range. After listening to about fifty headphones from 8 to 100 thousand, I chose these because for 12 thousand they completely suited me in sound, closed, and after tuning they give out what I want at a particular moment. There are better headphones, but three or four times more expensive. A few tips: - If you value your hearing, then a) do not listen to the DT 770 Pro loudly b) turn down the 4-10 kHz range on the equalizer, otherwise you risk losing sensitivity to high frequencies. Moreover, some flaws even become more obvious in this mode, because the ears do not get tired longer and hear everything. - It sounds strange, but for listening to music, I also lower the sub-bass and increase 125-250 Hz to compensate for blockage - so my ears do not strain and I can listen to music for hours, and the sound is still great. - 250 Ohm requires a good source and amplifier. The built-in sound will pull them out, but the volume at the limit will create more distortion, and on very quiet tracks, the hardware volume may not be enough.

Pros
  • - The biggest advantage and disadvantage of these headphones is the absence of "killed" frequencies. Dignity - in the full controllability of the frequency response of the equalizer. The disadvantage is that even in FLAC, world-class performers can hear flaws. And this is not a ripping error: the recordings have been tested on various music services, sound cards and headphones. In general, with the 770 Pro you will regularly hear some "de-mo" that audiophiles/philes would rather not hear. But for sound control they are perfect. - High frequencies (from 3-4 kHz to 10 kHz) - damn convex, but at the same time bright, clear, not clamped, "smooth as a blade", without nasty "sand in the ears". In general, they have the right to life. But not always. - Medium (from 300 Hz to 3-4 kHz) - just smooth, I don’t want to add or subtract anything, everything is heard perfectly and does not hurt the ear. - Low (bass) - very clear, biting, do not tambourine, without protrusion and dips, but depending on preferences, some listeners will have little bass, while others will have a lot. Due to the closeness and pressing of the cups, the bass is "subwoofer", for games and films it's the most, shots and explosions are felt to the fullest, although they do not drown out other sounds. Watching the films "Matrix", "Tenet", "Godzilla vs. Kong", "Green Knight" is just a pleasure. - There is a panorama, the scene is wide, the distance is determined, the volume is felt, all sounds are heard, there is no obvious mess. If you do not listen to any cacophony (I include def metal and analogues as such), then the separation of sources is excellent. Gamerip OST from DOOM 2022 (FLAC 24 bit) - zero problems. Although buying closed headphones for listening and mixing a scene is bad manners, because on speakers it can then break brains. - Sound position accuracy is not perfect, but good. Recording "3D Sound" on the YouTube channel "Watkoabc123" is a complete immersion. Headphones play even in the rear hemisphere, with which all stereo systems have obvious problems. - Ears do not sweat in the summer (although the head sweats under the ear pads). - They sit comfortably after "straightening with a sledgehammer" (see shortcomings). Lungs. - Noise isolation.
Cons
  • - THE BIGGEST drawback: if you don't have a dead "hearing", then on "dense" music (rock, electronica, dance music, "clicking" rap, etc.) the tops WILL "cut" your hearing, and your ears will quickly get tired. - Accordingly, you can finally kill your hearing at high volume. The headphones are VERY loud, I usually listen at 30-50% (sonic SoundBlasterX G6). After 70%, after 5-10 minutes, problems begin, up to pain in the ear. - An equalizer is required to adjust the sound when listening to "dense" music at high volume for a long time. At low volume, as well as in games, movies, classical and "soft", atmospheric music (eg Jean Michel Jarre - Amazonia) without strongly prominent voiced drums, you can leave it as it is. - The wire is only twisted, non-replaceable and short when compressed, so it pulls the left cup along with the head. It is IMPOSSIBLE to connect to the sound card in the computer under the table, rather you will break your neck. I solved the problem by buying an external sound card and fixing it motionless on the table, and the wire lies on the table half a meter from the head. You can stretch and fix the wire with a hot hair dryer, but there is a chance to break the conductor and the wire will still be more inconvenient than a straight one. You can still resolder, but this is a loss of warranty (as well as stretching). - Out of the box - they squeeze their heads TERRIBLY, it's unrealistic to sit even an hour. But there is a solution: unbend the headband closer to the edges. It's not so easy, you can overdo it (then the bass will "leak" through the gaps between the head and the ear cushion and the sound will become flat), so it's better to do a little bit in several passes. But then the landing is almost perfect, you can not shoot all day. - The ear cushions (velor, there are no replaceable leather ones) are quite hard. But if you fix the headband clamp, then you quickly get used to them.

Pros below: Great and smooth sound, comfortable! With its cons. The wire does not disconnect from the headphones
