I recently started a project of building cobblestone raised beds. Soapstone seemed to be the preferred marking method, so I gave it a try. I used the markers quite a bit as I had a pallet (135) of bricks with different patterns that I needed to separate, mark and randomize. Worked very well. The holder worked great and allowed me to throw it on the ground without breaking the stick. My only two issues are the wide tip so it takes practice to mark the stone for an accurate cut and the marks will rub off. quite easy. However, if they were thinner, they would most likely crack, and the abrasion is likely due to the nature of soapstone. Maybe I'll see if I can sharpen the tip (I have no experience with soapstone). Although I've labeled over 100 stones, I've barely used any of the early soapstone sticks (maybe 1 inch). At this rate they last longer than me :)
