I love these wheels for about a week or two until they start breaking. I like using them on my hedgehogs because they are easy to clean and easy for them to put on and take off. I bought them primarily because they are quiet, don't creak or bang on the cage. I also bought these a few years ago when I had chinchillas and never had these issues so not sure what has changed, especially since chinchillas tend to be heavier than hedgehogs. I first bought two of these for my two hedgehogs. The first one broke after a month and started squeaking loudly and constantly. The reason for the squeaking is that the plastic parts that hold the wheel together wear out VERY quickly once the wheel gets used to it. I left it in the cage and after another two weeks the whole contraption was so broken that the wheel couldn't even rest on its stand. A week later the same problem appeared on the second wheel. I bought two more because I couldn't find another type of wheel that I thought would fit them - one of them creaked right out of the box. And I'm not talking about the usual rodent wheel squeak, it's LOUD and the parts that squeak together have already started to wear out after just 2 weeks of use. I added some padding to reduce friction on the plastic parts and hopefully increase the life of the wheel a bit, but now they are difficult to clean because the padding has to dry every time.
