I love the way this pump works to vacuum gravel. It makes cleaning my aquarium much easier. I don't usually use the filters that come with it to improve suction. It doesn't pick up enough gravel to soak it up, so it works pretty well. The pumping mechanism works well and it usually takes about 5-10 quick pumps for the siphoning to work. It's adjustable, I usually run it open ended as the tube is small enough to keep the flow rate adjusted. I have a 5 gallon tank that we keep a betta fish in and I usually change half the water in the tank every week and this has made this task much easier and more efficient than scooping water by hand. I definitely recommend this pump as an efficient option at a great price.
