I didn't buy them specifically to eat, but the leftovers are used for that purpose. I bought them to put seedlings in for sale. I specifically selected them for color, size and lid. When they arrived I was happy. They can be labeled with a permanent metal marker to indicate the type of plant that is inside. The lid is used as a pallet. I make small drainage holes in the bottom for proper plant drainage and glue the lid from the inside to the bottom of the container. This will be the little plant's home until the customer selects a larger pot to plant it in. Most importantly, if they are food safe, they are plant safe and food safe. The idea of a strong but thin 5.5 ounce mug is perfect for making the container that looks like the apartment where you buy young flowers or greenhouse vegetables every spring. They are more durable than the deep squares in which tomatoes are planted. For dining, this is a great way to divide side dishes into portions instead of mixing them. Mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, coleslaw, rice, marinated meatballs. etc. can all be served with food instead of being mixed together. I'm not sure they will store the soup well due to the heat of the soup combined with the thin walls of the container. They are perfect for a street setting or a seaside restaurant serving side dishes or sauces in to-go containers. I hope this review helps both chefs and creative people. I have a feeling they would make great creative containers too, except the hot glue gun will melt them if too much glue is applied at once. For this plastic it is better to use glue dots or silicone glue base.
