Review on Stay Fresh And Organized With Bayco'S Glass Storage Containers - 9 Sets Of Airtight Meal Prep Containers In Blue by Jim Martin

Not the easiest to close this lid

I bought MCIRCO 22oz glass meal prep containers first, and Bayco second, so naturally, there will be comparisons. The glass shape looks identical. It is a slightly different tint on the edges, but otherwise looks and feels the same. I thought the lids were only different when it came to the color (or lack thereof) of the clipping sides, until I tried to put the Bayco lid on. The fit was so bad, I thought I'd grabbed the wrong glass container. The Bayco gasket is huge and ridged, where the MCIRCO gasket is recessed into the groove of the lid and smooth. This means when I'm trying to fasten the clip on sides of the Bayco lid, I have to use both hands, compress it evenly, and keep trying until I hear it lock on. This isn't as easy to open and close; it is something you need a bit of strength and concentration to fiddle with. Not great for my work lunch, where I need to be able to eat cleanly while standing and don't always have counter space to brace the container on while I finagle the lid. The amount of effort makes me nervous.I'll keep them though, because maybe these lids need a breaking in period, or maybe they'll last longer than the other lids. The experiment continues. Both will be frozen, the glass will be microwaved, and both will be washed top rack of the dishwasher, on heated dry. If there is a clear winner after constant use, I'll be buying more for myself and for meal prepping for family members. They were a similar price per container at the time I bought both brands. The packaging was similar, and inspired confidence that the glass wouldn't bust in transit. They have the protective plastic film to prevent the silicone gasket from adhering to the borosilicate glass. Bayco included a pretty Thank You card, which was a nice customer service touch to remind me this came from a young business trying to survive on Ebay.In general, the 22oz size seems to be perfect for my individual freezer meals, and stacks well. It looks really small, but the depth is a lot more than most microwavable portion controlled freezer meals, so I've been able to pack it full and eat without restraint. I've already caught family using it for other food storage, and the transparency of the glass and lid make it a popular choice. Easy to see what is inside and the condition without opening. They have been leakproof so far, and have tolerated their first trip through the dishwasher.Just wish the lids were easier to fasten.
