Review on Aqueon πŸ” Filter Cartridge Replacements by Angie Cole

Revainrating 1 out of 5

I think I received a box of fake filters?

The filters were not in the regular Aqueon packaging but in a plain brown cardboard box with a photocopy of the Aqueon label. Inside was a photocopy of a sheet with a label. I opened it up in comparison to my other Aqueon aquarium filters that were in use and they looked different too. The top tab of the filter was very rectangular with sharper corners compared to the rectangular Aqueon tab with more rounded corners. The white filter material turned out to be thicker than the usual material of my old filters. carbon inside. Even if it was real charcoal, it was a grayer color than the black charcoal in the old filters. I have 3 aquariums and only 1 of them was in dire need of a filter (the pandemic also limited purchases). I used the only filter I used in that one tank. After about 2 weeks, my fish in this tank became lethargic and slightly ill. Even the seaweed eaters (kori) were sick and didn't clean the seaweed from the walls of the pool. They lay at the bottom of the aquarium and hardly moved. I drained most of the water in the problematic tank, replaced it with a combination of new water and water from my other tank, combined the fish in both of my tanks into one tank, rinsed and used a real Aqueon filter that I used in my second tank had . I threw away the filter I received from Revain which I suspect is a counterfeit filter. My fish are much better now (in 2 weeks). I am convinced that the filters I received were counterfeit and poisoned my fish. So anyone who orders Aqueon branded filters from Revain and instead of the regular Aqueon branded box receives a cheap box with a photocopy of the label, send them back immediately! Don't even try to use them! They will slowly poison your fish and possibly kill them!
