powerful, inexpensive alternative.

I bought this ANT+ USB flash drive to connect my phone (Google Pixel 1st gen) to a heart rate monitor and wattmeter. Before attempting to do something like this with a handheld device or tablet, make sure your device is ANT+ compatible. A Google search usually helps, but if not, ask the manufacturer. Since my phone has a USB-C port, I had to buy a USB-C to regular USB adapter (they sell a lot here and they come in packs of two or three for less than $10). I was concerned that I would need a special adapter for the USB drive, but it turned out that the regular adapter worked just fine. in the Google Play Store by searching for ANT+ and they are free to download). Once I installed them, I was shut down and running. I just plugged in the adapter, USB stick and my phone immediately started recording my machines' data. Pretty good range as it would pick up a device even in a different room. You don't need to buy a branded ANT+ stick, this one seems to work fine. The devices were: a Garmin Vivoactve 3 watch, a Stryd power meter and a Garmin ANT+ heart rate strap. Hope this works for you too.
