So far everything is fine Out of the box

So I got it today and made coffee with it in a french press. I set it to around 203 degrees and when I checked the temperature with my instant read thermometer it was 1-2 degrees below what the kettle showed. I'm not sure how accurate my immediate reading is. Anyway, it's close enough for me. When making coffee I try to go from 200-205. I find that depending on the roast you want, how hot the water can affect the strength of the extraction. Lighter roasts are made hotter to bring out flavors and darker roasts are made colder to avoid bitter/burnt notes. Your grind also affects this. The heat up time was fast too! About 3 minutes or so? I haven't timed it, but it seems to be very fast. I think I'll love it because when I'm on the go my coffee should be brewed in less than 10 minutes! If I fill to the max fill line, it has enough water to fill my 4 cup French press to the brim. Above. If you enjoy pouring, the narrow spout allows you to pour with precision. When I received it I washed it with some Dawn and some hot water. I tried not to wet the buttons on the handle. Just rubbed with a sponge. It's pretty easy to clean overall, but my advice is don't submerge it in water or put it in the dishwasher. (Which I think should go without saying.) We'll see how it holds up over time, but so far I'm really enjoying it. Got it on a Black Friday deal for $40 which seems very reasonable. It also comes with a QR code in the box that you can register for a 24-month warranty.

Pros
  • Precise temperature control: The thermostat from the well-known British brand Strix is customized, precisely regulates the temperature and ensures complete boiling of the water, automatic switch-off when there is no water inside and protection against dehydration and combustion . Please note: the temperature displayed on the thermostat may have an error of 1-2°.
