Review on 📺 Sling Media SlingCatcher SC100-100 TV Media Player: A Versatile Universal Option with Enhanced Searchability by Rey Hossain

I bought this to connect to my UK Slingbox (I'm in Utah). Setup was easy, I had to reboot my router etc for Catcher to update the firmware. After that it was up and running and I looked at my British UK. HOWEVER, the projector function is a waste of time, there are much easier ways to project your computer onto a TV on your home network. There's also no USB capability as it doesn't accept mkv (HiDef) files, so you're better off using a Western Digital HD media player for that (for a lot less money). My biggest problem is this thing gets dangerously hot. I let it run for maybe 4 hours and while I evaluated it I laid it on the carpet before installing it. Imagine my horror when I tried to turn it off - it was actually burning through the carpet with heat emanating from the unit. So technically it's fine, its features already seem outdated, and there are other cheaper things that do a similar job. My main reason for returning is the heat emanating from the unit, it is a fire hazard and needs an internal fan before it burns down someone's house. Check out my UK Sling Box here in the US and it's awkward and inconvenient to hook up a computer or laptop to my large LCD TV. For this purpose the box works well, this unit doesn't get as hot as the last one I bought. It does the job I want, I can even use color keys for iTV in the UK while I'm thousands of miles away in Utah! OK, it's not DVD quality, it's more of a regular cable connection, so it's acceptable and watchable. Worth it for me just to watch my UK channels, as I said other features, projection, USB port for external drive etc are better on other devices. But for watching my Eastenders, Corrie and BBC News this device is great. So I would now add one star to my original rating and give it THREE STARS.
