We've been using Brita for a long time which is fine but I wanted something that looked nicer and could sit on the table. this type has two major problems with design and functionality. Taste is the biggest issue. After about 48 hours, the water in the carafe takes on a very strong plastic taste. The water is fine after the first filtration, if not cleaner than Brita. But the plastic taste is 8/10. Can't ignore. The filter speed is great. Very fast. However, the design flaw is that the reservoir that stores the water before filtering is only about 2 or 3 ounces in volume. Basically, you need to pour the water in a slow stream until the carafe is full. That's not all, and let it filter while you move on to something else. This is a stand until the carafe is filled for 2 or 3 minutes and then the water is turned off. I would not recommend this product based on the experience we have had.
