Review on VR Helmet HP Windows Mixed Reality Headset, 2880x1440, 90Hz, Black by Adam Koakowski ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The ratio of price and quality is very pleasing, I will repeat the purchase.

After a year of using PSVR, I decided to purchase a virtual reality helmet for PC, without external tracking. Stopped the attention on HP WMR Headset. For full-fledged work, you need at least one USB 3.0 port, a video card with HDMI 2.0 (otherwise it will only start at 60hz, it is simply impossible to play at such a refresh rate) and a Bluetooth 4.0 adapter. Connected without any problems. The only jamb with connecting controllers via Bluetooth was related to the fact that the adapter must be connected via USB 2.0, and not 3.0, as I first did. - Excellent picture quality, in comparison with PSVR - just heaven and earth. The image is clear, without "soap", the pixel grid is invisible, SweetSpot is just huge, it is very comfortable for the eyes. FOV, according to various sources, ranges from 95 to 100 degrees, which is very, very good, it is enough for a comfortable game. - You can manually adjust the IPD through the application in Win10 in the range from 57 to 67mm. But you can go beyond these boundaries if you configure it through the registry (the WMR topic on w3bsit3-dns. Com will help you). - The ergonomics of the controllers are at their best, they fit perfectly in your hands, they are made of very high quality, holding them in your hands even without a helmet is a pleasure. Pretty strong, I dropped it on the floor a couple of times from a height of ~ 1.5 meters - they work! They are powered by two AA batteries each, I advise you to buy rechargeable batteries of a good volume. - Tracking. Many complain about tracking in WMR, but I had no problems with it. Cameras track controllers in a 180-degree field in front of the player, when leaving the tracking area, the last location of the controller is remembered + the functionality remains, you can continue to press the buttons and move the controller, just its position without the camera will be read only by the gyroscope. - The visor can be tilted up to wipe the face or see what is happening in our reality. Pretty comfortable, although the helmet is heavy and tends to move off the head. The wire can be disconnected. The headband attachment is similar to PSVR, only more comfortable, easier to tighten, better fit.

Pros
  • The quality of materials, display resolution, usability, tracking, controllers, flip-up visor, easy setup, software adjustment of interpupillary distance.
Cons
  • To connect the controller, a Bluetooth 4.0 adapter is required, but it is not included in the kit.
