The packaging says it's dishwasher safe but I'm not sure if it is. Of course there's plastic, but I'm not sure about the wires. If you wash them by hand, you will find that water collects on them after washing, indicating a low surface energy coating. If the wires were bare metal they would have high surface energy and water would wet the surface. I'm guessing using Teflon, which is slowly soaked with a caustic dish soap solution and hot water. So you wash it by hand. never mind And for what it's worth I bought another brand that costs twice as much and after four trips in the dishwasher I haven't cut any eggs. It is mashed and chopped, but not chopped.
