Review on Set Of 8 Olympic Barbell Change Plates By The Friendly Swede - 5 Lb Fractional Micro Weight Plates For Incremental Strength Training And Muscle Building Increases by John Ramsey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for Smolov Jr.!

These worked out perfect for a Smolov Jr. Bench Press Program. Don't know what Smolov is? Do you even lift bro?!?! Smolov Jr. is an abbreviated version of the Smolov squatting protocol. It is also very often used for bench press. It's a 4-day-a-week for 3 weeks lifting protocol. The reason these fractional weight plates work so well is Smolov is based off of your "one rep max". When the calculations come out, most of the time you get weird numbers like 168lbs which requires something like: 2x45lb, 2x15lb, 2x1lb and 2x.5lb plates. Now you are saying "just round up", but when you are dealing with the precise calculations, it's best to have fractional plates and use the exact numbers. I mean, the Russians already did all the math, you just need to lift the weight! (and be exact!)As far as these plates go, you CAN'T beat the price. Similar competitors cost twice, if not several times more than these plates. These plates are really nice and simple. The colors are vibrant and easy to decipher when they are on the bar making plate counting in your head simple. My only issue is the paint on the inside of the rings will appear to wear off with use, I think i already have a paint chip on the inside of one of them. However that's to be expected. So far I'm super happy with these. If you are running a weight lifting gym going for precise gains in training, you could pick up several sets of these for cheap and really up your game.
