On the first try I managed to revive an old, broken knife (photo). Before purchasing I watched a YouTube video where a sharpening enthusiast demonstrated this stone against two $60 Shapton glass stones (320/1000) and was able to get 95% the same result (he was surprised). I ordered this because 300400 is the perfect series for reviving dull knives and 1000 is just enough to finish a blade for everyday, regular kitchen use. Cut right through the paper as I always see it. . while watching another YouTube video on sharpening masters for some tips. Update: Knives have gotten terribly sharp. There is no way back. The stone has changed a bit, but that's understandable given the price.
