This is the first version of the legendary line. It's heavy and built like a tank, its autofocus is faster than any non-sonic lens I've ever used, and it delivers excellent sharpness and color reproduction despite the 1993 replica lens I bought. There's a reason they called it the "magic drainpipe"! If you've got unlimited cash, the new 70-200 f/2.8 IS III USM and new RF are the only Canon 70-200s that are significantly better. Both are lighter and cost between $1,000 and $2,000 more than this lens. I'm an amateur, not a pro, so I chose this piece of history instead!
