Review on Dreo Radiator Electric Protection Thermostat by Christine Wilkie

Very quiet, heats great but has a few design flaws

This heater heats my 12 x 12 foot living room with standard ceilings really well but there are a few design issues that I find problematic . At first I found it very difficult to insert the rollers when installing the heater. They were so resistant to bracketing that I even asked support for advice. I eventually found that I had to press hard while spinning to insert the reels. My main issues with this heater are with the controls. The board is finicky. It only works when pointed directly at the control panel, and even then it basically doesn't work beyond 6 feet. The remote control only works when pointed at the narrow end of the device where the controls are located. It doesn't work on the side of the block. I have wooden floors. The wheels spin so easily that pressing the on/off button or changing the temperature moves the unit, requiring me to slide my foot under the heater to keep it still while I press the controls. The device gets so hot that I have to use oven mitts if I have to touch it for any length of time. It's not hot enough to burn you instantly, but hot enough to be extremely uncomfortable. The cable is attached to the same end as the controls. Therefore, if you run the cord directly from the device to the outlet, the controls will face the wall. This causes two problems. Firstly, as mentioned above, the remote control does not work from the device side. Second, when the controls are facing the wall, I can't easily see them. That means I have to rely on touch to find the controls. When I tried to turn the device on in low light conditions I couldn't find the switch as it is not lit and fully connected to the device. I had to walk across the room and turn on the light to see the switch. It would help if the power button was illuminated or protruded beyond the front of the panel. It would be even more useful if the cable was extended from the end opposite the controls. Having said all that, I really appreciate how well this heater works to heat my space. I'm curious how this will affect my electricity bill.

  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
