Living in the rural Midwest where the weather is harsh, I think a NOAA weather radio is a must have. During a storm, the internet is unreliable, the power goes out frequently and nobody wants to know that their batteries are dead at that moment. Enter this hand powered solar radio! Even if it's not charged, you can crank it to turn it back on. This may not be something you do often, but it can come in handy in an emergency. (I can't comment on the efficiency of the solar panel, but I suspect it will take a very long time to charge the solar panel.) The flashlight is bright, and it's another thing you'll need during a power outage! It is very convenient to have a built-in flashlight. The sound quality is clear enough. It won't sound like something for audiophiles, but it's quite nice to hear the voice over the weather radio. Bright orange was also a good choice as it's much easier to find in an emergency. I would recommend it for myself or as a gift for a loved one. This is something I will keep using because it seems bad weather is always brewing for us.
